Understanding Rodin - Rondin
You may appreciate this more if you know the following:
poncer means to sand
le ponceur means the sander
hêtre is the beech tree but it is pronounce like être . With “beech or not beech” you may recognise the parody of Shakespeare’s famous quote “to be or not to be”.
cyprès is the cypress tree but if you say cyprès du bout out loud, it sounds like si près du bout (so close to the end/finish)
un rondin is a wooden log
