To Mulhouse
Cushla and John
Well, we have had a few days off air! Vodafone’s 'roam like you’re at home’ didn’t quite stretch that far and we ran out of data and all means of communication, except for brief connections at the ports we have stayed at.
Hence the delay and gaps in sending this latest blog.
We have during that time travelled some very long days in order to get to Mulhouse - our meeting place for Jon and Bev when they arrive on Monday, and Kate when she visits us again on Saturday.
We were like drowned rats travelling in the rain for 8 hours one day. Unfortunately that stretch included the 15 lock staircase - which once started has to be completed as the lock people are hired to travel alongside you all the way and see you to your chosen journey’s end. It was a pity it was so wet as some of the views would have been spectacular! Never mind, we are going to do them all again on our return.
A hiccup on our arrival was that whilst we were busy upstairs managing all the locks in the rain, we had forgotten that a window had been left open downstairs and the saloon inside was flooded by the heavy rain by the time we arrived! Everything had a compulsory wash! Hands on heart Bev and Jon - we can honestly say we have thoroughly cleaned the inside saloon for your arrival !!! All clean and dry now :-)
Now in Mulhouse. In contrast to the previous pop band, there was a fabulous group including a stunning female vocalist playing in the main square. Spontaneous dancing out in front on this occasion was carried out by members of a group of intellectually disabled people out on an excursion- very entertaining, although somewhat distracting for the poor singe
